Help QVC Fight Ovarian Cancer…

29 July 2011 No Comment

The Silent Killer…that’s the name given to this deadly disease called Ovarian Cancer.  It is the fifth most common cancer among women and causes more deaths than any other type of female reproductive cancer.  10 years ago I lost my mom to ovarian cancer and just as the nickname suggests,  it snuck up on her and eventually killed her, in less than one year.  Oftentimes when people are diagnosed, the disease has progressed to an advanced stage, mainly because symptoms are so vague.   Although it is more common among older, menopausal women,  it can strike any female at any age.  I personally know two ladies who were diagnosed in their early 30s.

The best thing we can do is to be aware of the signs and symptoms and listen to our bodies.

The next best thing we can do is support research to help find a cure for this disease.  Tomorrow, Saturday July 30th, QVC is once again teaming up with Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) to host a charity event called Super Saturday.  Beauty brands like Philosophy, Mally Beauty, Peter Thomas Roth andLaura Gellar along with jewelry and fashion brands will offer great deals on some of their popular products and items.  Kelly Ripa and Kim Kardashian will host the event for the second year in a row.  Net proceeds from the event will be donated to OCF to advance ovarian cancer research, raise awareness and eventually find a cure!

Tune in tomorrow from 2-4pm and let’s help stop this disease!
